  1. 17 – Way more discs than I need. I just started playing last year and got bit by the disc buying bug. I regularly use 7 different molds. Some day I hope to be able to throw the sexy high speed discs that just take up space in my bag.

    • I feel the same way! I have way too many discs (though many have been given to me) and I have no idea what most of them do! I finally decided to just sit back and use a few of them to learn them all!

    • I usually carry 16-18 discs in my bag. Have a lot of used stuff I’ll give to newbies as starters or sell for a few bucks to more seasoned players. A lot of what I carry are backups. There are so many discs to choose from, you can overload your stock! I will try the new discs, but try to stick with the ones I am most familiar with. After playing for 25 years you to tend to accumulate a lot of stuff! Keep it simple. Choose 3-4 different type of drivers (overstable, stable, sidearm/thumber/tomahawk, and anhyzer), same with the mid ranges and 1-2 putt and approach discs. if you have a back up of each of these you now have 20 discs to schlept around!

  2. I had over 100 discs but when I went to college I got my entire dorm floor into discin, and outfitted them all with discs, so now I have 6 discs.

  3. 67 discs. Yikes! Mailing out 10 today to my son at Humboldt State University, CA. Many of the my discs are ones I used to throw but no longer use. I often give these away to friends who are starting to play. And then I have duplicates of discs for practice sessions so I can throw the same disc model and weight several times in a row before retrieving. Also have 1/2 a dozen of the same putter that I use for putting practice. However, I think I may be a bit of a disc junkie as I enjoy trying out different discs.

    • 67!! Holy cow! That’s a bunch. It’s great to give them though and get people into the game. A great way for the sport to grow! As for the 1/2 dozen of the same putter… I am working on doing the same thing so I can have a bunch to practice with.

  9. I just started playing just about a year ago and I love some DG. I recently began acquiring more and more discs. I have extra champion plastic for night golf and i love finding old discs. Recently I found a brand new Raven (OOP) at my local pro shop. I was so excited I felt like I was on an episode of storage wars!!!

  11. I have 37 disc at the moment. 15 are tournament disc and pdga disc that I don’t throw. Have a stack of innova that I have sitting on the floor and have filled my bag with all discraft. I don’t count the innova stuff its on its way to be donated to some little kids to have fun with.

  12. I have over 200, but ….
8 are from 25 years ago when I first started throwing.
11 are the putters I use in the same weight and mold for practice, the other 30 or so putters are the ones I tried but didn’t like.
50 or so are too worn out for me, but we use them in my wife’s class to start kids playing.
60 are tourney, collectible, or 1st run stamps I don’t throw.
I have about 20 in my bag, depending on the wind, and where I am headed to play. So there are that many at home waiting their turn.
And there are backups of my main discs (Wraith, Buzz, and Cro) being broken in to get put into the rotation.
Not to mention all the ones that sounded great when I read about them, but then didn’t work out when I bought and threw them.
    It is a sickness.

  13. I should have about 150: This includes my standard bag of discs, back-ups of my standard discs, 70 “starter discs” and used discs for classes, a few collectible discs, a few “retired” favorites, and a stack of practice putters. Even I think this is too many, but half of my home course traverses a beach, so several discs get donated to the salty sea…especially during classes!

  14. I have 30-40 in my bag and used box, a few retired, and about 280 new discs in my collection. Most of the collection are from the 1980s & 90s. I have about 25 just from the 1989 Worlds in Iowa.

  16. I think I had 500 discs about 25 years ago. Now it is probably closer to
5,000. I think I might need to get rid of a couple so I can walk in my
basement. Oh …and my upstairs too.

  18. About 30ish, I carry 8 or 9, depending on which local course, the rest are either wall hangers from tourneys and memberships and such. or just extras to have around in my trunk and wife’s car just in case I don’t have my bag with me,(which I always do)

  19. Once I started playing tournaments, my disc collection started growing exponentially. Some of that was from getting discs through payout, but also I was playing with new guys and seeing what they threw and getting interested in new discs and buying them to try them out. I started giving away and selling a bunch of discs about a year ago and now I am down under 200, I think. I usually carry 14-18 in my bag, depending on the course.

  20. I have almost 30. I like having about a dozen putters for practicing. Recently I have played putter only rounds to show fewer discs are needed.

  22. Between my husband and myself we own at least 250 discs! We both play competitively, and until recently, we both played Am which means plastic in your players pack, plastic for CTP’s and plastic for cashing! We both have done well in the Am divisions, I moved up to Pro this year and my husband will be there soon… Love being addicted to disc golf! :0)

  23. After starting to play DG I had my good discs that worked for me, then I would buy discs cause they were a new model. No collecting. Now not really buying new models just stock piling what works for me.

  24. I own around 40 discs, but only carry 12-14 at a time. I have given away quite a few, possibly more than I now own. The best feeling is matching a newbie with the perfect disc for his/her throwing style. I had some great people around me that helped my game a lot when I started playing. I feel like I owe it to the game to pass on the tips and tricks of the trade.

  25. I have two collections of discs: my own (40), and a stack of loaner discs (over 60). While I have owned a couple hundred discs in my five years of playing I am currently working hard to build a disc golf club in Daegu South Korea. I have been using all of my older discs as loaners for the new Korean players who want to try out disc golf. I will give away one or two to those players who have shown a great interest in the game. I carry about 22 discs and I have backups for my primary drivers (it can take a couple of weeks to order discs from the US). The Korean players are very interested in the game, and we went from 5 to 40 regular players in the five months that I have been living in South Korea. Our first PDGA sanctioned event (XC-Tier) is going to be on March 25th.

  28. I’m not sure exactly how many I have. Probably somewhere around 30, but I only use about 12 on a regular basis. I need to get a larger bag, I’m still working with a lunch-box sized bag. I’ve also recently taken to removing stamps from and dying my own discs – quite a fun and creative hobby! I have mostly Innova, but I do love my Buzzz and my Soft Magnet by Discraft. I’ve recently decided to primarily throw lower speed discs this season in an effort to improve my form and technique.

  29. I keep a pretty steady count of 15-16 in my bag a fairly equal mix of midrange and drivers, usually 1 or 2 putters. I have four or five on my walls, adds charachter to my apartment(my Jimmy Hendrix Blurr is my centepriece).Like most of you I have given away more discs than I can count to new players, love getting people hooked on my favorite thing in the world, and most of those people have given away the first discs I gave to them.
